Simon and engineer Neal A. Melick supervised construction. The exterior of the building is of modernized Colonial Revival design. The lobby has a low relief sculptural panel of a herd of elk. It remains a post office today. It is located at 213 W. Main Street in Surry County at the confluence of the Yadkin River and Elkin Creek.
