The U.S. Post Office and Federal Building, on corner of 5th Avenue and 19th Street, built with Alabama and Georgia white marble, costing 2 1/2 million dollars, is considered one of the outstanding buildings in the entire south. Construction of the foundation had begun when the building was redesigned. The U.S. Circuit Court met here until that court was abolished in 1912. It is still in use.
