Description

U.S. Post Office, Forest City, N.C. No. FC-4. No. E-4286. Built in 1937. This Post office building was constructed in the Colonial Revival style during the Works Progress Administration program. There was a bas relief entitled Rural Delivery created in 1939. It was moved from the old post office in 1978. It is no longer used as a post office. It was located at 133 S. Powell St. Postmarked May 6, 1944 with a one cent stamp. Message on back: Hello Helen, Thanks a lot for the nice card. I like it lots. Call again. Bernice Harton. Box 461. Rutherfordton, NC.
