Description

Post Office, Lexington, N. C. , No. A-96627. The Old Post Office and the former Davidson County Courthouse, built in 1911-1912 is known to be one of the most architecturally important buildings in the Uptown Lexington Historic District. The building is made of stone and Neo-Classical Revival styling. Six Tuscan columns create an imposing façade, and the interior lobby is replete with classical details. After completion of a new post office in 1967, the structure housed a branch of the county library and then Arts United for Davidson County. The building is currently empty.
