Description

Post Office, Charleston, S.C. Built in the 1890s. Located on Meeting Street and Broad Street, an act of Congress approved the purchase of the Charleston Clubhouse in 1869 and 1870. It was occupied by the light house engineers. In 1889 an adjoining lot was purchased for $10,000 and the clubhouse building was torn down. In its place this building was built as a post office and court house. Message on back: This is our P.O. How do you like it kid. J.M.P.
