Description

Post Office Augusta, GA. A beauiful building housing the Federal Court Rooms and Federal ofices, facing Barrett Plaza, which is in front of the Terminal Station, where all the railway lines enter the city. Built in 1916, the building was extended in the rear in 1936. It received interior upgrades in 1960 and 1971. It was vacated and extensively rehabilitated from 1922-1996. The building ceased to be a combined post office-courthouse in 1973 when the court became its exclusive tenant. Still used as a court facility.
